With the advent of Obamacare, freedom in American continues to wither away. Obama touted originally that individuals would be able to keep their doctors and keep their plans. However, what people are finding out is the hidden truth behind the ugly law known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. In reality, if your insurance provider has changed their policy since the inauguration of Obamacare, then you cannot keep your plan.
“If you like your doctor or health care plan, you can keep it.” -President Obama, August 15th, 2009
Well, guess what. If your existing plan does include the following coverages (and the list can be added to by the White House…yes, that’s known as Executive Branch legislation), then you can’t keep it:
- Ambulatory patient services.
- Emergency services.
- Maternity and newborn care.
- Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment.
- Prescription drugs.
- Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices.
- Laboratory services.
- Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management.
- Pediatric services, including oral and vision care.
So, you’re age 50 with no children in the house? Too bad. You have to have pediatric care. Single guy? You bet…gotta have maternity care. Thus, if your plan originally didn’t include all of those requirements, then you will likely be told that you can’t keep that plan and need to go sign up for another one.
And to top it all off, you need to be signed up for your new, more expensive plan, no later than January 1st, 2014. How’s that for a great deal! Some people notice that their new plan doesn’t cost more, but actually costs less. Well, for them, it may. But realize that those people are not taking a government handout…welfare to be more precise. That’s all a government subsidized plan is…welfare. Using the power of the state, with a gun to the heads of millions of hard working Americans, the government takes their money to make it so other people pay less. Ah, socialism. That’s where this leads us.
But, there’s good news. If you are a Christian and want to avoid this tyrannical system, you can opt out by joining a health care sharing ministry. There are several that are exempted under the law, which is great news for freedom in America. I recommend Samaritan Ministries, where individuals share their medical needs directly with others. Not only does it work, but it works well. Costs are lower, you have complete freedom to choose your method of treatment, and you’re directly linked into a large and growing network of like-minded families that not only support each other financially, but also pray for and with those in need.
